Wolf River Development: Rapidly Scaling with RingCentral
Wolf River Development Company moves off a legacy tribal PBX system to RingCentral — gaining the independence, mobility, and modern features needed to manage a distributed workforce across four locations.
The Challenge
Wolf River Development Company had outgrown the tribal government's legacy Mitel phone system — a platform that kept staff tied to desk phones, offered no modern features for a distributed workforce, and couldn't scale with the growing organization.
The Solution
CTPros evaluated Wolf River's communications needs, recommended RingCentral, and handled the full implementation — giving Wolf River an independently managed, modern cloud platform for the first time.
About Wolf River Development Company
Wolf River Development Company manages all nongaming commercial business activity for the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin. Based in Keshena, Wisconsin, WRDC analyzes business opportunities on and off the reservation with the goal of generating profit and supporting tribally-owned businesses. Operating across four locations with a growing workforce, WRDC's communications infrastructure needs to work as flexibly as the organization itself.
A Growing Workforce Warrants an Upgraded Phone System
For years, Wolf River Development had operated on the tribal government's legacy Mitel phone system — a setup that worked well enough when the organization was smaller, but had become an obstacle as WRDC grew and expanded across multiple locations. The system offered little in the way of modern features, and with a management team overseeing multiple businesses across the reservation and beyond, being tied to a desk phone was no longer workable.
What made the situation more complex was that Wolf River had never administered its own communications systems — phone infrastructure had always been managed at the tribal level. Moving to an independent platform meant finding a partner who could not only implement the new system but also set WRDC up to manage it on their own going forward. Mobility, ease of use, and self-sufficiency were the priorities.
Wolf River came to CTPros through a recommendation from an existing CTPros client — drawn in by the consultative, full-lifecycle approach to cloud communications that set CTPros apart from a standard reseller.
RingCentral MVP Stands Out — And Nicole Takes Wolf River From A to Z
CTPros evaluated Wolf River's environment and communications requirements, identifying that the team had never self-administered their phone system and that flexible mobility across multiple locations needed to be central to whatever came next. RingCentral was the clear fit — a Gartner Magic Quadrant UCaaS Leader with the functionality, uptime, and ease of administration that Wolf River needed to operate independently.
CTPros Technical Account Manager Nicole Brusich managed the full implementation, working directly with Kaycee Frechette on every aspect of the project — customized feature setup, system configuration, and hands-on training so Frechette could manage the platform independently after go-live. The implementation was completed quickly, and the transition went smoothly throughout.
More Than Double the Size — and Still Growing
Wolf River Development has more than doubled in size since migrating to RingCentral. The platform scaled with them. What started as a straightforward desire to manage their own communications infrastructure independently turned into a full modernization of how the organization connects and operates.
The outcomes the team has experienced since go-live:
- Voice extensions for every employee make it simple to call between locations — especially for staff who work across multiple sites throughout the day
- Crystal-clear call quality combined with smartphone and device access keeps the growing team connected and mobile without being tied to a desk
- Video calls, chat, and messaging are available with a few clicks — capabilities the old Mitel system never offered and that the team now uses regularly
- After-hours connectivity keeps the team in touch even when they're away from the reservation
The relationship with CTPros didn't end at go-live. Frechette noted that unlike other vendors Wolf River works with, she can simply call CTPros when she needs help — and get it.
